ERROR 1327 INVALID DRIVE

ERROR 1327 INVALID DRIVE E:/.

COD4 and some other games have come up with this error during the install. If you have more than one drive on your system or some kind of external drive, pendrive ect pluged in you need to change the drive letter to what ever the install error is, we dont know why we just found a way to fix the issue :; . We had this same issue and cahnging the drive letters  fixed it on two machines we needed to install COD4 DVD on. here is how to change the drive letters:

Cause of error Update: On our machines we always change "My Documents" to different location, server or hardrive,  using a Document Redirect. In our case after re install of windows xp our third drive that is used for the users documents was assigned the letter of E:/. That letter was changed to Z:/. once we changed that back to the proper letter the install worked just fine. The real fix is the registry but I havent found that yet and im sure this will work just finr for most gamers.  We reciced the error   ERROR 1327 INVALID DRIVE E:/.

WINDOWS XP:

How to change a drive letter

To change an existing drive letter on a drive, on a partition, or on a volume, follow these steps:

  1. Log on as Administrator or as a member of the Administrators group.
  2. Click Start, click Control Panel, and then click Performance and Maintenance.
  3. Click Administrative Tools, double-click Computer Management, and then click Disk Management in the left pane.
  4. Right-click the drive, the partition, the logical drive, or the volume that you want to assign a drive letter to, and then click Change Drive Letter and Paths.
  5. Click Change.
  6. Click Assign the following drive letter if it is not already selected, click the drive letter that you want to use, and then click OK.
  7. Click Yes when you are prompted to confirm the drive letter change.

The drive letter of the drive, the partition, or the volume that you specified is changed, and the new drive letter appears in the appropriate drive, partition, or volume in the Disk Management tool.

WINDOWS VISTA:

In Vista, you can use the Disk Management console to manage the drives on your computer. One of the things you may want to do at some point is change the drive letter assignments. You can assign any letter between C and Z to a hard disk drive while letters A and B are reserved for floppy disk drives.

To access the Disk Management console, right click Computer and select Manage. Under Storage, click Disk Management. The drive configuration of your computer will be displayed in the details pane. You can change the drive letter by right clicking any volume and selecting Change Drive Letter and Paths. Click the Change button and use the drop down arrow to select the drive letter you want to assign to the volume. Click OK. Click Yes to confirm your actions.

Two points you must keep in mind when performing this procedure. You cannot change the drive letter assigned to the boot or system partition using this method. Second, some programs may refer to specific drive letters for environmental variables. Changing the drive letters may result in such programs not functioning correctly.

We hope this helps everyone out!!
